Website Traffic Doesn’t Just Happen
In today’s world there are more websites scattered throughout the Internet than ever before. This website is dedicated to teaching individuals how to easily create their own websites by following the step-by-step guide outlined on the homepage of Create Your Websites.
However, creating a website doesn’t mean viewers will actually visit it just because it is there. No matter how awesome your website, people will not automatically flock to it. It takes work to get your website noticed; if you want people to visit your website, you need to find ways of marketing it in order to attract additional viewers.
When starting out (and actually, as your website continues to grow) one of your main priorities will be driving more people to your website. Whether your website is set up as an online shop selling goods or a product or serving as an educational tool such as this website, one of your primary goals should be trying to attract as many viewers as possible. Below are five strategies to guide you as you endeavour to increase the traffic on your website.
Hire a Great SEO Company
SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is essential for anyone looking to establish an online presence. Put simply, if you have a website that you need people to visit, you must have good SEO. Rather than trying to handle your SEO yourself, however – which, by the way, is very difficult for beginners – you should instead hire an SEO firm. These companies use a number of strategies to help boost your ranking on the search engines, and they are very reasonably priced.
This sounds great, but what about those of you with little to no budget for SEO? Yes, there are options for you as well, and what I suggest is hiring an SEO consultant on a work-for-hire website like Fiverr or SEOClerks. If you’re interested in learning more about these services check out my article titled How You Can Enhance Your Website Using Fiverr.
Make Use of Keywords and Phrases
Yes, this relates to SEO, but it so important that I wanted to specifically call it out in its own section. SEO companies will use professional copywriters who create engaging content for your website and blog, making sure to use the correct balance of keywords and phrases relevant to your business. If, for example, you sell gardening equipment, “gardening equipment” would be your key words.
Professional copywriters will therefore create exciting, engaging, and informative copy for your website, making sure to include keywords and phrases relevant to your business. This in turn will help drive more traffic to your website when people search for items and services relevant to your business via search engines like Google and Bing.
Make Use of Social Media
Whether you love social media or loathe it, you MUST make use of it if you want to increase traffic to your website. Social media allows you to advertise for free (or for pay, if you want to increase your reach); it allows you to gain more followers; you can engage with potential customers; and you can even target certain demographics and get insight into what they’re looking for. Additionally, the more pages you have out there, the more chances there are for your website and business to be to found online.
Set Up a Blog and Update Regularly
To drive traffic to your website and to keep people coming back, you need to give them a reason to interact with you regularly. One proven way to accomplish this is by setting up a blog and posting interesting, informative, useful, and engaging content – which, again, includes your specific keywords. If you want this strategy to work, you will need to continue to maintain and update your blog on a regular basis.
There is no proven time period in regards to how often one should post to their blog; however, I’d suggest at least once per week. The amount or type of postings may change over time, depending on the number of viewers you have visiting your website and what they are most interested in reading about and learning.
Create Internal Links
Internal links can work wonders for your SEO so I’d suggest trying to include internal links across your website. The best way to do this is to include relevant internal links when you create new content. This will not only boost your ranking on the search engines, but it will also help keep interested users on your website as they navigate through different related articles.
Give It a Go!
There are, of course, other ways to increase traffic to your website, but if you can incorporate one or all of the options suggested above, you will be well on your way to gaining more visitors and improving your website ranking. Good luck!
